Online Craps
Online Craps Guide

Online Craps is perhaps the most glamorous game in the casino. James Bond’s favorite table game, it may look complicated because of the generally noisy atmosphere that surrounds a craps game but once you’ve got the hang of the table layout and the types of bets available, it’s really not too hard to pick up the ropes.
Below we look at some of the more basic bets on the craps table to allow players to get a grip on the game. They’re some of the best value bets too meaning that even if you’re a new player, you can still make your first visit to the craps table a profitable one.
Playing online craps
A round of craps consists of a pair of die being rolled down a long table twice. The first of these rolls is known as the “come out roll.”
If the come out roll is a 7 or 11, it’s generally considered a win for the players. However, if the first roll is a 2, 3 or 12, it’s seen as an automatic loss for most players.
Any other outcome of the first dice roll “sets the point.” That’s to say that the same player will continue to roll the dice until he/she rolls either the same number again or rolls a seven.
If a 7 is rolled before the the point is hit, then the player (or shooter as he’s known) loses and action passes around the table to the next person.
Types of bet
There are a number of different types of bets available to the online craps player. However, for players new to the game it’s generally advised that they become comfortable with some of the more straight forward bets while they become accustomed to the game.
Pass Line Bet
The Pass Line is the most common and straight forward bet available to the craps player. The bet is placed on the “Pass Line” and a player wins or loses based on the following criteria:
If the shooter rolls or a 7 or 11 on the outcome roll, you win
If the shooter rolls or a 2, 3 or 12 on the outcome roll, you lose
If the shooter rolls any other number, you will win as long as that number is rolled again before a 7 is rolled. Otherwise, you will lose
Don’t Pass Line Bet
As the name suggests, this type of bet is the exact opposite of the Pass Line Bet. It’s a bet that is generally frowned upon in standard casinos because you’re betting against the shooter – if you’re playing online though, this really doesn’t matter as is generally a good play to make as the odds are slightly more in your favour when compared to the Pass Line Bet.
The rules are as follows:
If the shooter rolls or a 2, 3 or 12 on the outcome roll, you win
If the shooter rolls or a 7 or 11 on the outcome roll, you lose
If the shooter rolls any other number, you will win as long as the number 7 is rolled before the point is rolled again. Otherwise, you will lose
The Odds Bet
The Odds Bet is extremely popular with online craps players because it offers zero house edge. These opportunities don’t come along very often so, when learning craps, you should become as comfortable with this kind of bet as soon as possible.
The Odds Bet can only be made after a point has been established and a Pass Line Bet has been made.
The Odds Bet will be declared a winner as long as the point is hit again before a 7 is rolled. When this happens, the bet pays out true odds depending on the point which has been set.
Point Payout Odds
4 or 10 2:1
5 or 9 3:2
6 or 8 6:5
Due to the popularity of this kind of bet, casinos generally impose a maximum bet size on the Odds Bet. The standard limit is twice the size of the Pass Line bet, but some of the larger casinos allow bets up to 100x the pass line bet.
Other Craps Bets
There are a number of other bets available to craps players, but those listed above will get the new craps player off to a good start, and it is advisable that you become very comfortable with these before you progress on to the more advanced bets.
